My daughter set it up. I take the photos.
My daughter bought me this camera for my birthday. I told her my phone takes fine pictures. She set it up anyway and showed me how to use it. I'll admit the photos are better. Noticeably better. The lens does something that the phone can't — when I photograph my woodworking projects the detail in the grain comes through in a way that looks like the actual piece. My phone flattened everything. I use it on the auto setting. I have not learned the manual controls and I don't intend to. The auto setting takes good photos and that's sufficient for my purposes. The battery lasts a full day of occasional shooting. The buttons are physical buttons in sensible places. There are not forty menu options I need to navigate to take a picture. Those things matter to me. What surprised me: How much lighter it is than I expected. Cameras used to weigh something. I carry this in my jacket pocket.
The best cameras
I love these cameras. I would easily spend twice this amount on them.
I am in the middle on these
These are made in china, and have the same security issues that you would expect. The great thing is that will stream video in a open format that you can sync with you Synology, Any camera that i have found that is made in America requires you to pay a monthly to to rent their devices, I wouldn't ever expose these to the outside world.
